Overview

Pets can develop undesirable behaviors that can be tricky to correct. Just as we all have personalities, so do our pets. Sometimes those personalities can clash with a certain environment, other pets, or even people, especially when introduced to a new home.

We offer Manners Foundation courses as well as Manners Next Level courses for dogs and handlers who attain the needed skills to take more advanced classes.

Why should my pet go through behavioral training?

At some point, all dog owners need to administer behavior training (also known as behavior modification). Common behavioral problems that may arise in your dog’s life are:

-       Compulsive behaviors

-       Human-directed aggression

-       Inter-pet aggression

-       Fears

-       Separation anxiety

-       Cognitive dysfunction

-       Inappropriate elimination

We offer various behavior training methods to correct undesirable behavior. We’ll help you decide on a behavioral training program that is best for you and your pet.

When should my pet start behavioral training?

We offer a variety of different training options and levels. Whether you want to start your puppy or adult dog in behavioral training, we can work with a dog. If your pet has a behavior issue related to aggression, private lessons are recommended.

Training your dog requires patience and commitment. During training, it’s beneficial to keep up with the lessons at home, so practice with your dog for a couple of minutes every day.

How do you conduct behavioral training?

We will first begin by conducting a behavioral evaluation. A training evaluation allows our trainers to determine what method and type of training will be most suitable and successful for you, your dog, and your family. We will observe your dog in a natural setting to evaluate and understand their personality as well as their relationship with you. After observing their behavior, we will recommend a program that best fits you and your pet’s needs and goals.

Manner's Foundation

Our intro manners course helps you teach your dog important life skills like impulse control, focus, polite leash walking, coming when called, down, stay, and more. You’ll learn how to communicate effectively with your dog to achieve superior training results and forge a strong relationship with your dog.

This class is an excellent foundation for both pet and performance dogs (agility, competition obedience, etc.). Manners Foundation is a 55-minute class that meets once a week at a set day and time for seven consecutive weeks. Appropriate for dogs and puppies of all ages (preschool ALSO recommended for puppies 8-14 weeks of age). Please note that the first class is an orientation session for you to attend without your dog.

Manner's Next Level

Manners Next Level continues to build on the skills introduced in Manners Foundation class by improving your dog’s ability to perform with duration, distance, and distraction. You’ll help your dog improve important life skills like impulse control, focus, polite leash walking, coming when called, down, stay, go to place, and more. You’ll also learn how to communicate effectively with your dog to achieve superior training results and forge a strong relationship with your companion dog.

Manners Next Level is a 55-minute Revolving class (just pick your start date at registration) that meets once a week at a set day and time for four consecutive weeks. New students wishing to start at this level must schedule a separate evaluation session beforehand (30 minutes for $30) with a Manners Next Level instructor.
