Dr. Cara Borre
Dr. Borre graduated from Michigan State University in 1991. She has worked with small animals in Western Washington for over 18 years. Her fields of interest include dermatology, specifically helping control the discomfort of incurable allergy itch, internal medicine, geriatric medicine and end of life counseling. She enjoys giving Well puppy and kitten exams, behavioral counseling and pre-selection pet counseling. She is committed to preserving the animal-human bond, and recognizes that in many cases, including her own, pets are child substitutes and a very important enhancement to their caregiver's life. She appreciates the constant companionship many animals bring to their senior citizen caregivers and is sensitive to the fact that many of those senior citizens are on a fixed income. She works hard to give all animals under her care the best health care available while adhering to the budget of pet owners.
Dr. Borre enjoys reading for entertainment and to learn about world history. She enjoys listening to and playing music. She also enjoys ecotourism and with her partner of 13 years photographs and takes video of wild animals they encounter on their trips. She moved to Washington from Michigan to take advantage of the myriad of outdoor pursuits Washington has to offer and still enjoys cross country skiing, biking, hiking, although her backpacking days are behind her. She lives in Gig Harbor with her 3 dogs and 3 cats and considers herself fortunate to have access to a private beach which she enjoys combing several times a week when weather permits.
Dr. Borre's dogs include Chowder, a Chihuahua/Jack Russel Terrier mix, Dalai, a Miniature Australian Shepherd, and Maggie, a Boston Terrier/Yorkie/ Bat mix. Her cats, Kirk, Wilder, and Ivy consider the dogs to be their staff.
