Behavior Consultations
Kathy offers private behavior consultations for families seeking help with their dogs. Common concerns addressed in consultations include aggression toward family members, strangers or other dogs; separation anxiety; fears and phobias; housetraining; destruction; barking and rough play.
Kathy sees appointments every Wednesday at Sumner Veterinary Hospital. The initial behavior consultation session lasts two hours. Follow-up sessions may be scheduled and typically last one hour. Kathy’s fee for the initial behavior consultation is $235 and follow-up sessions are $120. Pre-payment to Sumner Veterinary Hospital by credit card at 253-863-2258, ext 3, (or by mailed check) is required to reserve an appointment.
During the appointment, Kathy will ask many questions about your dog’s daily routine and behavioral history. She will also observe your dog’s behavior directly and his/her interactions with family members. Then, with input from you, she will devise a behavior modification plan for your dog and describe its implementation. Occasionally, behavior modification will be deemed impractical or too risky. In those cases, other options (i.e., strict management, rehoming, euthanasia) will be discussed.
Kathy usually books 3 – 4 weeks in advance.
