Holistic Pet Care

Non-Invasive Whole Body Care.  Optimum Well-Being.

Holistic care is an important and valuable part in maintaining your pet’s overall well being and helping your pet become stronger, more flexible and enjoy improved mobility.  Holistic care is a natural, drug-free method of non-invasive pain relief and strengthening procedures.  It significantly helps ease the pain from arthritis and trauma. Sumner Veterinary Hospital is a leading provider of a range of holistic care and therapeutic services including:

Rehabilitation
Dogs with osteoarthritis and degenerative joint disease, tendonitis, hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia and patellar luxation receive tremendous benefits from rehabilitation therapies.  Rehab programs are customized to fit your pet’s specific needs.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture concentrates on manipulating points of energy on skin.  It’s used to maintain and promote balance, and treat a variety of conditions including: hip dysplasia and chronic arthritic conditions, tendon and bone injuries, pre/post-operative pain management, seizures and spinal cord trauma.

Chiropractic Care
Dog chiropractic care can help repair your dog’s muscles to allow the joints to move freely. Your dog’s muscles are healthy if they are free of spasm, weakness, discomfort, knots or degeneration, which is especially common in elderly dogs.  The chiropractic correction restores vertebral joints to normal function so an animal can stand, jump and run without pain.

Canine Massage
Massage for dogs can be used to help ease the pain of conditions such as arthritis and hip dysplasia.  Dogs that have stiff or wobbly legs, difficulty climbing stairs or getting in/out of a car find relief from massage. For show dogs, massage helps aid agility performance, and improve gait and drive.

Aqua Therapy
Our state-of-the-art underwater dog treadmill is used to help in the recovery of injuries, relieve arthritic pain and improve athletic conditioning – and dogs love it!  The treadmill is calibrated to your dog’s specific needs for buoyancy, resistance, speed and temperature.

Chinese Herbal Remedies
Herbal medicine that treats infections from parasites, skin diseases,  itching, hair loss, bites, wounds, pressure sore, arthritis and indigestion.

Laser Therapies
Cold laser therapy is used to treat muscular injuries, tendonitis, post-surgery sites, lesions from excessive licking, open wounds and arthritis.  It’s also used as an alternative to needles in acupuncture treatments.

Sumner Veterinary Hospital offers these services individually or in packages, which are available at a discounted rate.  We work with you to decide the best plan for your pet.
