Dr. Kathy Wendt
Dr. Kathy Wendt founded Sumner Veterinary Hospital in 1983, she is the Medical Director and a staff veterinarian. In 2000 she launched It’s a Dog’s World, a world-class training and agility center on the campus of Sumner Veterinary Hospital. She was raised on a cattle ranch in Texas and fell in love with animals. She was compelled early on to commit her life to helping animals and the people that love and value them. Dr. Wendt is committed to continuing education and averages over 60 hours of intensive veterinary medical courses every year. She is an active member in many industry organizations including: WSVMA, AVMA and AAHA. Dr. Wendt has received specialized training in rehabilitation medicine from the Canine Rehabilitation Institute and has used this knowledge to build a cutting-edge rehabilitation and conditioning program for Sumner Veterinary Hospital. She lives in the Tacoma-area with her husband and their four dogs: Gidget, Wiki, Bug and Flirt. She enjoys the outdoors and competing her dogs in agility competitions.
